Everyone's a Winner at Bullring
at Bullring, 10am Friday 3rd August 2012 in Birmingham
Bullring is getting ready to celebrate a summer of sport in 2012 with a unique event which supports local athletics club, Birchfield Harriers. From Saturday 28th July until Friday 10th August, shoppers will have the opportunity to get active for one minute, taking part on an exercise bike or power spin to help raise money for Birchfield Harriers. Bullring will donate 60p for every successful minute completed and the money will go towards improving grassroots sport and inspiring a new generation of Olympic hopefuls. Birchfield Harriers has a phenomenal track record of developing sporting talent and has been represented at every summer Olympic Games bar one since 1908. Successful Birchfield Harriers Olympians include Denise Lewis, Mark Lewis-Francis and Kelly Sotherton. The club develops youth talent through its Saturday morning academy and the funds raised from Bullring’s Everyone’s a Winner event could make a real difference. If £400 is raised the club could train an additional coach, £1,000 could fund new equipment and £2,000 could ensure regular sessions are held at 10 new schools. The event is being hosted in association with Access Sport, a charity which gives children, particularly in disadvantaged areas, access to a wide range of quality local sport. Everyone that takes part in Everyone’s a Winner will also be entered into a competition to win prizes including a family holiday for four to St Lucia and will receive a book of exclusive discount vouchers to spend at Bullring. Hammerson, the owner and manager of Bullring is hosting Everyone’s a Winner in nine of its shopping centres across the UK. Each centre will support a local sports club and it is hoped that £30,000 will be raised for grassroots sport.
The event will be taking place on Bullring’s Lower East Mall between Saturday 28th July and Saturday 11th August. More information on Everyone’s a Winner can be found at www.bullring.co.uk.
